  Saroj Chand, LPC-MHSP, Founder/Owner of ACC
Saroj is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider with roughly 30 years experience in the Mental Health field. She received her B.S. Degree from Hunter College in New York City; and her Masters and Specialist degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She welcomes individuals, couples and families as well as members of the GLBTQ community. She is on the approved provider list of the State of Tennessee Sex Offender Treatment Board. She offers Psycho-Sexual Risk Assessments for adults and adolescents, and works with the perpetrators and victims of sex abuse, as well as perpetrators and victims of Domestic Violence. She also offers, Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug assessments. She is a native of India.

    Emid Armstrong, MS
Emid has a her Masters in Counseling from Argosy University in Nashville , TN. She is working towards her license as a Professional Counselor, she likes working with individuals, couples and families.. She facilitates Groups Against Domestic Violence for men and women. She is fluent in Spanish and is interested in working with Hispanic clients. She is a native of Mexico.

    Mary Barker, SPE
Mary is a Senior Psychological Examiner with more than 20 years of experience. Mary received her Master's degree at The University of Tennessee. Mary offers psychological and psychosexual testing, and provides mental health counseling to adults and adolescents. Mary is a native Tennessean.

    Jean Barret,LPC–MHSP
Jean earned her masters degree from the University of Tennessee in 2010 and is a licensed professional counselor. Prior to joining ACC, she worked at Juvenile Court with the adolescent and family recovery courts. Jean enjoys utilizing play therapy with children and also works with adults. Jean grew up in New Jersey, but now calls Knoxville home.

    Sharon Britt, PC
Sharon student at Messiah College, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Studies. She later student at Liberty University, and earned her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling. Sharon is currently pursuing her professional counseling licensure with a Mental Health specialty. Sharon has over 20 years of experience working with youths, adults and families in varied community and mental health settings. She provides counseling with these same populations, and is specialized in working with adolescents. Sharon has experience treating individuals who have struggled with anxiety, substance abuse, depression, trauma and interpersonal abuse. She has also worked several years facilitating men and women’s Batterer Intervention groups. Sharon’s approach to therapy is client centered, and interventions are focused to treat her client’s emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Sharon is a native of Massachusetts, but has enjoyed living in the hills of Tennessee since 2005.

    Matt Drinnen, LPC-MHSP
Matt is a LPC/MHSP with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. He has experience working with children, adolescents and adults including adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. His other areas of special interest include learning disabilities, trauma and addiction. Matt is parts I and II trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. He is a member of the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association.

    Nicole Dykes, PC
Nicole studied at Walden University and received her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in Forensics. She is currently pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider and works with individuals of all ages. Nicole utilizes the benefits of both art and play therapy when working with her younger clients and implements her training in positive discipline when working with parents. She also works with families and couples and has experience treating individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, abuse, ADHD, as well as various other clinical issues including substance abuse. Although Nicole grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, she has called Knoxville home since 2001.

    Sondra Haley, PC
Sondra Haley received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, and her Master’s in Mental Health from Lincoln Memorial University. She is currently pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider and works with individuals of all ages. Sondra has 7 years of professional combined experience working with adults and children, and 22 years as a parent raising 1 daughter, and 2 boys. Her theoretical framework consists of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Client Centered Therapy utilizing various therapeutic approaches, all of which includes psychoeducation. Sondra also has experience in providing therapy to address issues of anger management, domestic violence, as well as providing group therapy to high risk adolescents. She also has extensive experience in the family court systems, assisting in family reunification, and children in custody of the State. Sondra wants to work with individuals that are seeking ways to improve their lives in a physically, mentally, emotionally, as well as, spiritually healthy manner implementing evidenced based treatment as part of the therapeutic process.

    Jimmy Hill, MS-Counseling
Jimmy graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Counseling. He became a temporarily Licensed Professional Counselor in 2015. He currently works with adults, adolescents, and families in areas which include depression, anxiety, sexual and relationship issues, life span issues, self-worth and self-esteem, stress management, religious abuse and spiritual issues, conflict resolution, grief and loss, trauma, sexual and physical abuse, and self-harm.  

    E. Colvin Idol, LPC-MHSP
With Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Tennessee, Colvin is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider and a Tennessee native. He sees individuals and couples with a portion of his practice devoted to adolescents. Colvin also facilitates Batterers Intervention Groups (often called Anger Management Groups) and Alcohol & Drug Education and Support Groups. He is a Tennessee Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider and co-facilitates an Intensive Outpatient Program for Adolescent Sex Offenders. Colvin welcomes active military service members and veterans as well as other family members of military personnel.

    Pradumna S. Jain, M.D.
Dr. Jain is a licensed Psychiatrist, offering medication management to address chemically-related mental health issues. He treats both children and adults. Dr. Jain is a native of India.

    Kristin Leu, LPC-MHSP
Kristin is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider with 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. She received her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee in 2005. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, couples and family therapy. Areas in which she has extensive experience inlcude Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trauma recovery techniques including trained in TF-CBT. Kristin is a person centered, open minded caring individual, native of Knoxville.  

    Marjorie Lloyd, MS, LPC-MHSP
Marjorie is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is qualified to address mental health issues. Previous to receiving her license, Ms. Lloyd worked for the Tennessee Departmnt of Children's Services as a case manager for eight years, working with foster children, their families, and families at risk. Ms. Lloyd enjoys doing play therapy with children ages two through nine or ten and individual therapy with children, teens, men, and women. She also enjoys doing marriage counseling, anger management, and using cognitive/behavioral therapy to address many types of mental health disorders including Major Depression, Bipolar 1 and 2 Disorders, various Anxiety Disorders, and so forth. Ms. Lloyd has a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Community Counseling from UT-Knoxville. Ms. Lloyd is also a National Certified Counselor.

    Mary Lugar, LCSW
Mary Lugar is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Masters of Social Work Degree from Radford University in 2008 and has over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She has experience working with all ages, couples and families dealing with a variety of emotion, behavioral and social concerns. She has a special interest and expertise in working with those facing infertility. Please call for a list of specific services offered for this topic. She also is the facilitator of the only East Tennessee Infertility Support Group that has been RESOLVE approved. Her other clinical interests include grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma and interpersonal relationship issues. The counseling approaches she uses vary by client and their personal goals for seeking therapy. She provides those seeking her services a safe and confidential place to express themselves and fulfill their needs.

    Deborah Rowlands, MS, CRS, LPC-MHSP
Deborah Rowlands is a licensed professional counselor with mental health service provider designation, and a certified rehabilitation counselor.  She received her MS degree in counseling at the University of Tennessee in December of 2000. Deborah has nearly ten years post Masters degree experience in mental health work in East Tennessee. In 2001, she obtained her certification in rehabilitation counseling, which allows her to do specialty vocational counseling work with clients who have physical or mental disabilities.   Prior to beginning at Alternative Counseling Center, Deborah worked as a mental health counselor contract employee through Peninsula for the SAP program in Knox County Schools. Deborah serves mental health clients of all ages in general practice counseling, but she is particularly interested in assisting clients with family crisis intervention, marriage counseling, trauma from abuse, eating disorders, mood disorders, and in treating persons with personality disorders. She also has extensive experience with anger management skills training and substance abuse counseling. Deborah is a native Tennessean.

    Brandi Smith, PC
Brandi received her Masters degree in Counseling at the University of
Tennessee and is pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider. Training and work experience consists of helping individuals and families learn to cope with mental and physical health issues. Areas of focus have included problems with depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug addiction, poor self-esteem, parenting stress, and adjusting to life changes related to health problems. She has served as a caseworker in a nursing facility with rehabilitation and long-term care programs for 6 years. Other employment has included providing counseling to Families First participants for 3 years and conducting vocational assessments for 5 years. Brandi grew up in Knoxville.

    Rosa Whitmer, MFT
Rosa is a bilingual therapist fluent in both Spanish and English. Rosa earned a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University in Southern California. Rosa is currently pursuing her licensure as a professional Marriage and Family Therapist. Rosa’s training and work experiences consist of working with state agencies, nonprofit agencies and in private practice. Rosa enjoys helping couples, families, adults, teenagers and children six years and older to cope with a wide array of issues such as mood disorders, anxieties, depression, loss and grief, addictions, anger management, behavioral issues, poor self-esteem, marital issues, domestic abuse, physical and emotional disturbances, parenting, trauma and PTSD. Rosa is a native of Mexico.

    Tomiko Williams, M.Ed, ED.S
Tomiko earned her Masters in Counseling in 2001 from Carson Newman College, and then her Specialist's degree in 2003. She is currently working towards her license as a Professional Counselor. Tomiko has over fourteen years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She has worked with several State agencies providing Individual/Family Counseling, Anger Management, and Crisis Intervention. Tomiko enjoys working with children nine years and older and their families. She offers Individual, Family Counseling, and working with trauma from abuse, mood disorders, and family crisis intervention. Tomiko is a native Tennessean.
